Ah Zac

Zac Racing a peddle car with only 1 leg that can bend
Zac trying to figure it out

Zac and his Beautiful Girlfriend Ms. L

Hey I figured out how to upload my phone photos to my verizon account. Now to figure out how to upload them to facebook!!! Labor day weekend the boys participated in a peddle car race. I thought Zac would have a hard time because his left leg doesn't have a knee so it doesn't bend. I thought Zeb would do great because he has 2 knees and his left leg prosthesis comes below the knee. Ya I should know better shouldn't I? The boys had to compete against each other for the race so I have no pics of Zeb because I had to help Zac. Once I gave Zac a push or 2 he figured out how to peddle with 1 leg and get his other out of the way. He actually won the 1st run. Zeb poor baby his prosthesis got stuck and he couldn't get it out of the way to peddle the car so he came in last. He was so heartbroken but was quickly cheered up with a funnel cake... Zac had to race the winners from the 1st round. He came in last but I am so awe struck at his tenacity to try and try again. He truly makes due with what he has and gives it all he has. Zac to my dismay and delight has become a chick magnet! This child has the girls from his class all over him. 1 little girl in particular has won this mommies heart! She is so sweet. She runs a block with her arms outstretched backpack dangling big smile on her face straight for us every morning. Throws her arms around Zac and hugs him! He being so macho kinda acts put off for a second because mom is standing right there, then smiles and grabs her hand and off they go holding hands as far away from me as they can get. They walk to class hand in hand all smiles.... Now after school there is another girl who is friends with Zoe who hugs and kisses Zac before she heads off with her mom and Zac and Zoe with me... Zoe thank goodness thinks it is funny and gross! Yeah Zoe you've got the right thinking!!! I do however have a problem with some older boys cat calling Zoe with racial sexual slurs. Any ideas on how to put a stop to that? She pretends she doesn't hear them and keeps walking but I well if you are a parent you know what I'd like to do and how I feel. Why do adults teach their children this rubbish. I know they immulate what they see. It is sad my 5 yr old daughter has to hear this garbage and I have to teach her how to be gracious in the midst while protecting herself. I knew it would come but am shocked she is 5 and I have to do it now.

Lisa,
I'm smiling at your stories about Zac! As a teacher, and a mom, I am shocked by the behavior of the older boys you mentioned towards your daughter. You absolutely need to request a meeting with the pricipal. This has to stop. They must have a zero tolerance policy on racist comments...
Love,
Nicole

What a Beautiful Family and plenty of smiles and happiness in the children's faces. You are doing a wonderful job with them. You are a prime example of the Grace of God unmerited and serving as God's Hands Extended. Keeping your family in my prayers.
